| 今年の我が家のクリスマスのご馳走に花を添えてくれたのが、アセローラフレッシュ代表の並里哲子さ んが送ってくれたブルーシールのクリスマスケーキ。ぱっと見普通のケーキですが、白い生クリームの下 は５種類のフレーバーのアイスクリーム。子ども達はもちろん、親も懐かしい味に大喜びしました。後ろ は鶏の丸焼きの残骸。 |

今日はほぼ終日自宅リビングで（SOHOセンターの新しい部屋は日当たりが悪く寒すぎ）お客様にクリス
マスカードを書きました。今年1年間を振り返り、来年への意欲をかき立てながら・・・
I wrote Christmas cards for customers almost all day long today in our living room at home (tiny new office at SOHO center is not blessed with adequate sunshine and too cold), thinking about what happened this year and rousing enthusiasm for business next year. |

秋の恵み
Autumn Harvest

久しぶりに須藤さんの顔も見たいし、と須藤農園で開催された竹伐り体験会に参加しました。みんなで
焚き火を囲んで歓談していると、須藤さんがちょっと・・・と呼び出し、私たちが竹を切っている間に
収穫したらしい袋いっぱいの野菜を下さいました。久しぶりの取れたて野菜に感激！
I participated the event to cut bamboo in Sudo Farm partly because I wanted to see Sudo-san after a while. When the participants chatted around open fire, Sudo-san called me and gave me a big plastic bag of veggies which Sudo-san seem to harvest while we were cutting bamboos. I am so pleased with those fresh veggies that I have missed since I quit Kazenoeki. |

ポインセチアの寄せ植え

我が家にも少しずつクリスマスの雰囲気が・・・色の違うポインセチアを寄せ植えしてみました。今度
こそクリスマスが過ぎても枯れないように育てるぞ！
I planted three different colors of poinsettia in one pot, which adds Chiristmas ambience to my home. I have my mind set on keep them alive even after Christmas. |

演奏会用のお弁当
Lunchbox for Concert

多摩地域の小中学校吹奏楽部演奏会に出演する娘のためのお弁当。何てことはない普通のお弁当ですが、
海苔を音符の形に切ってシャケご飯の上に載せると、おお、演奏会らしい！自画自賛で写真を撮りました。
This is a lunchbox for my daughter who played clarinet for elementary&junior high school wind orchestra in Tama area, Tokyo. It's just an ordinary one, but dried laver cut in the shape of musical note made it special for concert. I was so impressed with my artwork and took a picture of it. |

沖縄風ハロウィーン？
Halloween with Okinawan Taste?

ここ数年日本でもハロウィーンの行事や飾り付けが盛んに行われるようになってきましたね。我が家
でも数年前からこの瀬戸物のかぼちゃにろうそくを入れて飾っていますが、今年は娘が夏休みに沖縄で
作ったシーサーを横に並べてみました。これで悪霊は絶対来れない？ Lately Halloween has been celebrated even in Japan. A few years ago we started placing this ceramic pumpkin with a lighted small candle in it. This year, we also placed the shisa that my daughter created in Okinawa during summer vacation. Side by side, I hope they beat off evil spirits. |

ＳＯＨＯの小部屋にも秋は来ぬ
Autumn Has Come Even in A Small SOHO Room

秋も深まり、窓辺も秋っぽく。左が普通の松ぼっくりで、右側の３つが層雲峡で拾ってきた
松ぼっくり。分かりにくいですが、窓の外ではハナミズキが赤く色づいています。 As autumn has progressed, scenary around a window look autumnal. A cone in the far right is one collected here, and the ohter three in the middle are the ones I picked at Souunkyo Valley because I was fascinated with their unique shape. Although it's hard to see in the picture, a dogwood outside the window has turned red. |

テーゲーの会発表会
Tege-no-kai Recital
|
家族総出で行ってきました、テーゲーの会の発表会。盛り上がりました！「あしたば」という八丈島の
郷土料理の店で行われたのですが、そこのママさん？音楽を聞いたら着物を羽織って踊りだしてしまいま
した。（下の写真）一見ウチナーンチュ風ですが、踊りは阿波踊り風でした。 テーゲーの会について、当日の様子について詳しく知りたい方は こちらをクリック！ All of my family members went to Tege-no-kai Recital. Everybody was excited and had fun! It was cast at a restaurant "Ashitaba" which serves Hachijojima cuisine. The hostess there could not help dancing as soon as Okinawan music started. 旭川の思い出
Memories of Asahikawa, Hokkaido

今月初めに行って来た北海道旭川での写真です。一泊だけですがめちゃくちゃ楽しかった！上はリフト
から眺めた層雲峡。こんな雄大な紅葉を観たのは初めてでした。下は最近人気急上昇中の旭山動物園の北
極グマ。ガラス越しとはいえ、大迫力で大満足でした。 These are pictures taken in Asahikama, Hokkaido. Though it's just a one night trip, we had much fun! The picture above shows the Sounkyo valley from a lift. This is probably the noblest autumnal tints I've ever seen. The picture below is a polar bear in Asahiyama Zoo, which enjoys growing popularity. Although we looked at him over the thick glass, we were well satisfied with his vigorous performance. |

長くだらだらと続いた残暑も昨日まで、というニュースを見てお店に出てみたら、柵の上にトンボが・・・本当に
秋が来たのね。 I heard the weather forecast on the TV said lingering heat of summer ended yesterday, and I came to Kazenoeki to find a dragonfly on top of the wood fence. I am well convinced that autumn has come. |

息子の背中

今日は釣り銭をうっかり忘れ、息子に持ってきてもらいました。そのついで、というかお礼にアセロラジュースを
飲ませ、サクラにもなってもらいました。もうすぐ夏休みも終わり。私もしっかりしなくちゃね。 Since I forgot to bring change with me, I asked my son to bring it for me. In addition, and to thank him, I gave him acerola juice and had him sit at a table as a "gee man." Summer vacation will be soon over, and I should be more careful not to forget things. |

なーべーらー（へちま）の天ぷら

以前当サイトの人気コラム「くわっちーさびら」で紹介されたナーベーラーの天ぷら、富久屋で稲福氏と一緒に
食べてみました。言葉に出来ないくらいおいし〜い。親しい人たちと美味しいものを食べ、語り合った沖縄最後の
夜でした。 写真上は出てきたところ（既に２個は銘銘皿に消えている）、下は一口かじったところ。分かりにく いですが間に油味噌が詰まっています。 At Fukuya resteaurant, I ate tempura of loofah for the first time with Mr. Inafuku who intruduced it in his popular column in this site. It tasted so good that I don't know how I can describe it. I ate good stuff and talked a lot with good friends of mine for the last night in Okinawa. |

うりずん豆
Urizunmame Beans
| うーくい（お盆の最終日）のご馳走に入っていたうりずん豆の天ぷら。めちゃくちゃ美味しいのとその形のユ ニークさにびっくり。生まれて初めて見、食べたのでした。私があまりにも感激し、他の料理と一緒に大皿に盛られた 天ぷらをほとんど一人で平らげたので、驚いたおじさんが「実物見せようねー」と言ってもぎたてのうりずん豆を 持ってきてくれました。大きさを比較できるものを隣に置かなかったことを後悔していますが、幅３センチ、長さは １５センチくらいあり、かなり大きいです。 |

| I ate tempra of urizunmame beans for the first time in my entire life and was very impressed with their good taste and unique shape. I ate almost all tempra by myself and was so impressed, my relative who grow them showed me fresh beans. I deeply regretted that didn't place anything beside the bean to compare the size, but they are pretty big with its an inch width and 4-5 inches length. | |

ウークイの帰り道、太鼓の音に惹かれて車を止め、金武町の住宅街の一角で見たエイサー。大きな通りや会場で演じ
られるものと違って、こじんまりとしていて趣がありました。 We were fascinated by the drum sound of EISA and pulled our car to the side of the road to watch it on the crossroad in a residential block of Kin Town. EISA there was small and nutty, compared to ones performed on the larger streets and venus. |  |

キズもの・異形の野菜たち
Flawed or Deformed Vegetables
| 無農薬、安全が「売り」なのだから、形は気にせずに売りましょう、と言っているのに、生産者の須藤さんたら 少々見た目が悪い野菜は「荻堂さん、どうぞ。」と売り物とは分けて持ってきて下さる。そういうわけでこの野菜 達は販売台に上ることはないのですが、変わらず美味しいので記念撮影することにしました。 見た目じゃないの よ、野菜も人も。 |

| Even though I repeatedly said, "Sudo-san, let's sell flawed, deformed vegetables as well because the point is, we sell organic, safe ones," he always separates flawed and deformed ones and says, "they are not for sale but yours. Please enjoy their taste." So they would never be on the shop table. As they taste as good as vegetables that are sold, I decided to take a picture for commemoration. What is important is what's inside, not appearance, for both vegetables and humans. | |

| 昨日のカマキリに続き、今日はハチが登場！コーヒーミルにしがみついてコーヒーパウダーを食べているみたい。 ハチってコーヒーが好きなのかしら。こやつはカマキリの赤ちゃんと違ってでかい。早く出て行ってくれ〜。 |

| Succeeding yesterday's mantis, a bee flew in today. It looks like clawing hold of a coffee mill and eating coffee powder. I wonder if coffee is bee's favorite food. Unlike the baby mantis, this one is huge. Please go away as soon as possible! | |

Baby Mantis
| 野菜をお買い上げのお客様にお釣りを渡そうと思ったら、お客様の頭のてっぺんに小さな緑の物体が・・・。 野菜くずかなあ、と思ってよ〜く見ると、なんとカマキリの赤ちゃん！こんなに小さいのに（比較のため小さめの ゼムクリップを近くに置いてみました）ちゃんとカマキリの形をしている。「かわい〜！」お客様と二人子どもの ように歓声をあげ、しばし観察してしまいました。クモに食べられないでね。 |

| When I was about to give some changes to a customer who bought organic vegetables, I found something tiny and light green on top of the customer's head. First I thought it was vegetable debris or something, but I realized it was a baby mantis! It's so small (I placed a smallest gem clip near the mantis), but still, it was a full mantis. Both of the customer and I let out a cheer and watch it for a while. Then we warned it, "Be very careful not to be eaten by a spider." | |

ＳＯＨＯセンターですくすく育っていたパキラが冬に風の駅で枯れてしまったので、新しいものを
買ってきました。この暑さの中ですくすく育ってくれるといいなあ・・・
My favorite guiana chesnut, thrived in SOHO center, died last winter at Kazenoeki, and I bought a new one yesterday. I simply wish it grow quickly and healthily in this hot climate. |  |

ナメクジ

無農薬の野菜って、当然ながら虫がついています。お客様には「安心して召し上がれる証拠」などと
言って、それが風の駅の野菜の It's only natural that there are bugs somewhere in organic vegitables. I always try to convince my customers that bugs are good evidence that these vegitables sold at Kazenoeki are safe. And I am pretty confident about doing so. When they actually show up; however, I cannot help screaming like crazy. 運び込まれた時、てっきり長ネギだと思ったら、新たまねぎの葉っぱでした。たまねぎにはこんな葉
っぱがついていたのね〜。野菜を売っていると、発見の連続です。
When I first saw them, I thought they were green onion, but actually they are leaves of newly harvested onions. I didn't know they have leaves like those. Selling veggies gives me a series of discovery. |  |

約２ヶ月ぶりに無農薬野菜の販売を再開しました。「風の駅」の売り上げに貢献してくれるのはもちろん
ですが、見るだけで私を元気にしてくれる可愛いやつらです。 We started selling organic vegitables again. Not to mention their contribution to Kazenoeki's sales, their healthy appearance simply cheers me up. |  |

フリマならぬメーデーの賑わい
Festivity Not of Flea Market, but of May Day

第１回目のフリマが好評だったので、第２回目を開催しましたが、何と今日はメーデー。向かいの井の
頭公園に集結した労働者に圧倒されました。写真ではよく分かりませんが、スローガンではなく被り物や
着ぐるみの多い、仮装行列みたいなメーデーでした。 As the first flea market at Kazenoeki was pretty well received, we cast another one today, but today is May Day, what a shock! We were overwhelmed by so many laborers rallied at the Inokashira Park. Not appearant in this picture, but they were not holding slogans, but donning masks and animal suits, all which looked like a costume parade. |  |

I Love 100-yen Shops!

定休日に久しぶりにショッピングに出かけて見つけたカップ＆ソーサー。結局買ったものが全てお店
で使うもの、というのがちょっと悲しいけど、これで１０５円って、ちょっとびっくり。
あなどれないぞ、近頃の１００円ショップ。 On the last holiday, which was past Tuesday, I went shopping for the first time for a long time and ended up buying things I use at my shop. Well, what the heck, this pair of cup and saucer cost only 105 yen. Isn't it amazing? We can hardly turn up our nose at 100-yen shops, can we? |  |

新しい看板
New Shop Sign

新しいお店の看板、ブラックボードを買いました。黒板の上のアクリル板の上にサインペンで文字を
書きます。「うわー書きやすい、水森亜土になった気分♪」と嬉々としてあっという間に書き上げた大
槻さんでした。 I bought a new shop sign, a blackboard. We can write letters with special felt pens on a aclyric plate on top of the blackboard. Ms Otsuki joyfully shouted, "Wow, it's easy to paint. I felt as if I were Mizumori Ado (a popular illustrator in Japan)" and made a trendy shop sign right away. |  |

| I am not goofifng off cleaning at Kazenoeki. Petals are so pretty that I just leave them as they are on the floor. Actually I wanted to introduce a picture of petals falling fluttering in the wind, but thanks to my genius of photography, the picture I took turned out to be just a boring, dusty landscape. | |

| 今日は珍しく子供の休日とお店の休日が重なる貴重な日。おまけにぽかぽか陽気。お弁当を持って 井の頭動物園へGO!と掛け声をかけてみたものの、喜んでついてきたのは息子のみ。娘は自分のお弁 当を持って友達と動物園へ。もう親より友達なんだなあ・・息子と二人きりが嬉しいような寂しいよ うな春の一日でした。 |  |
| Today is a very precious day for me when kids' holiday falls on mine. And it's such a beautiful, warm day. I proposed to my kids, "Let's go to the Inokashira Zoo, bringing lunch box with us!" Only son agreed to go with me. My daughter took her own lunch box and went there with her girl friend. Well, she grows up and now prefers to be with her friends, rather than her parent. I had a mixed feeling that I miss my daughter and I enjoy being with my son alone on a beautiful spring day. | |

| 本日第一回目のフリーマーケットを開催しました。お客さんが来なくて出店者から責められたらどう しよう、と非常に不安だったのですが、大した宣伝もしていないのにこのにぎわい！オバサン（失礼！ ）はみんなフリマ好きということが実感できました。またやって、という声も多く定期的開催をめざそ うと思っています。 |  |
| We held our first flea market today. I was very worried that no customer showed up and stall owners might blame me. Against my fear; however, Kazenoeki was packed with lots of people, though I didn't give much publicity. I was convinced that not-so-young ladies are crazy about flea market. | |

四季柑

| 喜瀬武原の荻堂農園（親戚です）からタンカンと一緒に送られてきた四季柑。あまりにも小さく色も 甘そうなのでお昼のデザートとして食べたら「すっぱーい！」あまりの酸っぱさにひっくり返りそうに なりました。 農園の人にこれはシークヮーサー？と問い合わせたら、いいえ、四季柑です、というお 返事。地元ではシークヮーサーが無い時に代用することもあるそうですが、酸っぱ過ぎて鳥も食べない とか。沖縄には私も知らない不思議なものが、まだまだあるなあ。 |
